Escherichia coli is a significant reason for urinary tract infections (UTIs) especially in immunocompromised individuals such as pregnant women, elderly people, and youngsters. Therefore, this cross-sectional research initiative to detect the prevalence of uropathogenic E. coli (UPEC) to understand its impact and spread among patients with UTIs across different age groups. The current study was conducted between October 2024 and March 2025, with 155 urine samples collected from outpatients. Microscopical, cultural, and biochemical examinations revealed that 78 out of 155 samples (50.3%) were E. coli. All UPEC isolates showed a green metallic sheen on Endo agar and Eosin Methylene Blue (EMB) agar, and a blue colour on Chrome agar. Of the 78 UPEC isolates, 60 (76.9%) were female, and 18 (23.0%) were male. The percentage of UPEC isolates in females was greater in the 21-30-year age group 18 (24.3%), while in males it was greater in the 51-60-year age group 4 (5.1%). Official health institutions must assume responsibility for raising awareness of the importance of hygiene and rationalizing the consumption and use of antibiotics.
